Inspired by my 2 door G-Class post last night I am gonna say two door SUV's should make a come back. I want Bronco vs Blazer fights again. So Oppo, what trend of yesteryear should come back?

Affordable mid engined cars like the MR2.

Two door convertible CUVs need to make a comeback.

There's two obvious things missing from current cars.
This as a horn:
And that woo woo:

The minimal, cheap, open-top sports car.
Basically, more MX5s. Cars like the MGB, Spridget and Alfa Spider (just to name a few) were hugely popular in the '60s and '70s, and are still well-loved today. The MX5 has done well in this segment, too, but I can't help but think that we could do with more options.
The FR-S/BRZ/GT86 is great as an expression of these ideals in coupé form, but wouldn't a convertible version be awesome?
Think a modern version of this. Utterly minimal, cheap and accessible to the everyday buyer, not particularly fast, but huge, excessive, grin-inducing amounts of fun.

I think the market is actually right for the return of the hairy chested 2 door suv....oddly enough.

2 doors? No. People count door numbers instead of interior space when deciding what to buy for their family. But I do think we'll see smaller 4-door SUVs, a la Jeep Renegade.

The market is ready for the return of the Jeep Wrangler?

There's only one of those left, right?
Or does BMW make a 550 RWD wagon in the Europes also?

The manual transmission. And also wood paneling, said nobody ever.

I agree with your 2-door SUV Idea(a modern 2-door Cherokee would be awesome), and I'll raise you pop-up headlamps and these:
Jet-nozzle tail lamps, just look at them!!

BMW still sells a 550i wagon to Eurofats.
![]() 10/06/2014 at 12:18 |

But it's okay because we get the 550 GT!
-said no one ever

I think the GT-line exists solely for Europeans to make fun of Americans.
![]() 10/06/2014 at 12:20 |

I wouldn't have a hard time believing that. If I were European, I'd make fun of that so much.

You're right about the 2 door SUVs. I want a new two door Tahoe.

And the E63.
![]() 10/06/2014 at 12:32 |

The Z3/M roadster/coupe started as a joke on the Americans, lets throw some old 3 series parts under a roadster body, then build them all in South Carolina because nobody in Europe will want one. We'll even have James Bond tell them they are cool. Turns out it was actually good.

I keep forgetting you can still get that RWD

SMALL BOF SUVs. Like Blazer small none of this "Oh, it's the size of a 90s Tahoe but we'll call it small" BS.
Mid-Engined cars for the masses, a la Fiero. Without the whole bursting into flames thing.

They're mostly sold in China.

I sorta had Toyota's other two door SUV convertible offering, an '85 Toyota 4Runner with a removable top. I was going to put a canvas top on it, but I never finished restoring the vehicle. :(

Open touring cars.
Think convertible versions of massive 4-door luxury sedans.

Like I don't even have a snarky comment. That's just a pretty car.

Louvered windows, but updated. Make them motorized, with a light sensor and/or a switch, so they can be closed when a large truck or idiot with their high beams on is behind you. (Yes, I am aware of the existence of the auto-dimming rearview mirror, but they aren't nearly as cool.)
